Revenger and Repenter – Finished

Just finished this two light Warjacks of the Protectorate’s classic Battlebox for my wife’s army. Speed painted again, so you probably can spot some minor inaccuracies. Now I have to decide what to paint next: Khador (MoW Demo, Assault Kommandos or Scrapjack), the missing Farrow Brigands or more of the Protectorate…

Wait… moldy painting color?

I didn’t even know that this could happen at all. There is a spot of mold growing in my scorched brown. Well, the pot is in use for about 7 years now but I thought the worst thing to happen to acrylic colors is drying-out. It is not that good to spot in the picture ( the white part in the corner). Let me tell you that it is of the furry type.

Probably there is some organic contamination going on. At least the pot is already almost empty and just some weeks ago I wanted to buy a new brown but it was sold out at my LGS.

My Child Is Abducting My Miniatures

The title is a bit exaggerated as it was only one miniature missing. Here is the story:

O torso where are thou?

Before one of the last gaming evenings I was looking for the miniatures I needed for my list. I have one magnetized Khador heavy plastic kit that is still unpainted and stored in a drawer with the other unpainted models. So I took a look into the drawer where it should be waiting and there was just all the arms and heads in a box but no torso. Unfortunately I have shown my 1,5 years old daughter the content of this drawer some time ago. So after looking at the other places I store my miniatures I suspected my daughter to have picked up the torso from the unlocked drawer and put it at some strange place I couldn’t imagine. I started to look at some possible locations like below the couch or behind the locker. But still no sign of the torso. As my wife wasn’t available at that time, I couldn’t ask for any hints. So I already started to think about getting some substitute for the torso (without buying a new box set) like one of the old metal jacks.

As my wife was back again I asked her if she had any hints. Yes, she knew what happened: my daughter had picked up the torso and broke it apart (base, legs, body separated). So my wife just hid it to glue it together at the next opportunity without getting to my attention. Obviously that opportunity came to late.

So here is a question to you readers who also have children. How do you secure your miniatures. I have a lockable display cabinet for the painted ones but thought it is enough to store the unpainted ones in an unlocked drawer. Evidently it’s not.

eVlad vs pAsphy – League Game (with Pictures)

At the moment our local gaming group is running a small casual league. Everyone can make one game against each other player using steamroller 2011 scenarios. We are using bonding rules. If there comes a longer league break with no games the league will be stopped and a final free for all game with the best three or four players will be held to declare the overall winner.

In this context I had a second 35 points league game this week against Cryx with Asphyxious. I played eVlad, 1 Destroyer (first game survived with eVlad), 1 Spriggan, Wardog, Doom Reavers + UA, min Assault Kommandos + 1 WA, Drakhun and Manhunter. My opponent played Asphyxious, Cankerworm, 2 Deathripper, Nightmare, Skarlock, max Bloodgorgers, Slaughterborn and the Withershadow Combine. The Scenario was Closed Quarters.

Here comes a picture after first round’s positioning:
