Here it is, the outcome of the full metal Black Ivan conversion project. This conversion is based on the classic destroyer chassis instead of the plastic kit. I’m quite happy with the result. Take a look at the front and back picture of the finished ‘jack. Below I added a third picture comparing Black Ivan with a classic Destroyer. The Destroyer is also the first ‘jack I painted about 5 years ago. You probably can spot some progress in painting quality.
Going to play a game of Warmachine this evening and will play a Harkevich tier4 list. Currently the list looks like this:
- Harkevich, Black Ivan, Decimtaor, Berserker
- full Winterguard Infantry, UA, Kovnik Joe
- Mortar, Fieldgun
At this, two points are still left to spend. So what to take? I could add some Mechanics for ‘jack support, Widowmaker Marksman for sniping single targets or 2 Rocketeers, for example. Enemies I’ll face are most probably Cryx and Mercenaries(Damiano) in a 3 player FFA.
I played a game of Warmachine on Staurday with my Khador against a Four Star Mercenary list at 35 points. This was my opponent’s list:
- Damiano, Mangler, Nomad
- Steelheads: 10 Halberdiers, 3 Heavy Cavalry, 6 Riflemen, Stannis
- Ogrun Bokur, Reinholdt, Rhupert Carvolo
- Harkevich, Black Ivan, Decimator
- Great Bears
- Greylord Ternion, Koldun Lord
- MoW Demo Corps
It was the first battlefield appearance of the papercraft buildings. I even built an sporadic wall as terrain (yet unpainted) just before the game, that was quite helpful in the lategame. Below comes a short report of the outcome in the captions of the pictures.
After having this thing mainly in his box unassembled the last months, I found the time to glue it together. This is a really impressive model and quite heavy even with all the resin. Painting it probably will give me some cramps. The second picture shows my solution for getting to difficult to reach spots for painting while enabling early playability with the model on its base.
